I am interested in working within the space objects occupy. Using that space as a platform to build a sculptural work, I explore colour, tactility, materiality and fabrication to further my involvement in the creation of objects that absorb space. Are we able to manipulate the connections we have to colour and explore the individual connection to the relationship between colour and objects? My experimentation attempts to make sense of occupied space, and the relationship to the objects it contains. The assembly of large-scale material sculpture puts into context how objects in space function before, during and after their use. Similarly, what connotations might a space hold before and after the use of an object within its confines? Every experimentation offers a reality about the manufacturing of objects and their durability. Approaching my work intuitively, I create work to manipulate space, often making interaction essential for the work to function. A conversation between objects and the body speak to the origins of objects, and how we might interpret our own occupied space.
